3 Fall Walks in Kananaskis to Do With Your Family!

Fall is a great time to hike in Kananaskis.  The summer crowds are gone, the trees are changing colour and the views are spectacular!  Here are 3 Fall Walks in Kananaskis to Do With Your Family!

I call these walks because they’re not hikes…these are simple enough, and short enough in length for little ones to do, and that they will enjoy.

All 3 of these walks are located just a short drive south west of Calgary.  In fact you can be there in about 40 minutes time which is amazing! Each of these walks are also just a few minutes apart from each other, so you could technically do all 3 of them within one day if your family is up to it!

Elbow Falls Trail

The Elbow Falls Trail is a short, paved walk that takes you to different viewpoints of Elbow Falls.  Since the flood in 2013, the trail has been under construction, so it’s a bit disjointed, but not hard to do.  There are steps and a bit of a climb, but it’s very easy and the view of the falls are worth it! It’s especially pretty in the fall with the foliage of the trees changing colour!

Location: Parking and trailhead are located along Alberta Highway 66.  Refer to the Alberta Parks Map for location.

Trail Length: 0.4 KM to the falls

Trail Type:  This is an easy interpretive walk to view the falls.
