Top 5 Kid-Friendly Restaurants In Canmore, Alberta

Canmore is one of our favourite destinations through the year. Whether we’re heading out there in the winter to enjoy winter activities or the annual festival, or the summer months to take part in hikes, beaches and activities like stand up paddling, or simply to get away.  There’s always delicious food that becomes one of my favourite parts of the weekend.

It’s a bonus that some of these favorite places are perfect to bring the kids along – here are a few of our top recommendations of places to eat in Canmore with kids:

Top 5 Kid-Friendly Restaurants In Canmore, Alberta

Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co.

Delicious dinner with a kid friendly area for the kids to play pretend pizza kitchen while you wait? You can’t get much better than that. The bruschetta and sun dried tomato flatbread were a hit with both of the kids, and they finish off both of their meals, every single time. If you’re there through the week, take advantage of the kids night on Tuesdays, where the kids can help make their own pizzas.

Summit Cafe

Easily our go to place for breakfast at one of our favorite locations in the Mountains, the Summit Cafe has a generous breakfast for around ten bucks, and more than enough for the kids to split, or eat off of our plates (as our toddler does), with an extra side of toast. The kids love the fact that the table markers are old toys, and coloring books and crayons are stashed away in the corner, with a few more toys, for the kids to amuse themselves while we wait. The food is always fresh, always delicious, and the menu is slightly changed up every time we head out for breakfast. Warm up with hot chocolate and baileys, and grab one of the delicious bars for a snack later on in the day. My top pick? the Magic bar.

The Grizzly Paw

Not traditionally kid-friendly, but the kids love going during the winter months when the fire pit is lit through the evenings. Warming up while we wait for a table, and the bribe of getting some of their favorite soda pop is enough to keep them manageable. As for the food, I’ve never had anything spectacular on the menu, but it’s enough to say it’s tasty.

Miner’s Lamp at Georgetown Inn

In addition to great fish and chips, and easy kid-friendly choices, you’ll find a generous seating area outside on the patio. Adjacent to that seating area is the perfect place for kids to climb and play, with swings and a play area to keep them occupied as you sit on the patio until the food arrives. It was refreshing to be outside, and not having to tell the kids to sit down, stay still and stop running around.

Habitat Restaurant

Located inside the Grande Rockies Resort, this is one of our places for breakfast with older children. You know, the ones that are past the stage of toddlers and tossing their food all around the table. The adult menu is delicious (try the Southern Stacker, or the omelette of the day), and the kids meal is generous, delicious and only about $7/kid. Like any breakfast, the juice in the morning adds up, so skip it to save an extra $20 off of your meal. Though not traditionally somewhere you would think to bring the kids with, your tummy will thank you after the delicious start to the day.

  1. You should really mention that Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co doesn’t allow strollers inside the restaurant. We went there based on your article but were refused because our baby was asleep in the stroller. It’s an important point to know for people looking for family friendly restaurants.

    1. Thank you for reaching out…we had no idea that was the case as we haven’t visited in quite some time…it must be a new rule, and not a good one at that. Definitely not family friendly!
